Slowly, daylight crept in... and I could see. And something else had changed inside of me.

I have not done any of the work for tomorrow. I have not finished giving out gospels. I have not had a shower for too long. I have not had enough sleep. I seem to be collecting enough angst to out-mope a roomful of goths. If I push myself much further, I think I might break.

(I already have a plethora of offers of help, thanks. I'm tired, and ill, and just keep going. I don't seriously think that I will break, but I feel stretched to breaking point; I want to claw out my eyeballs and howl at the moon. The moon is a crescent and I doubt it will cast a shadow. I need a break, but I'm not going to give myself one, and people advocating it will just make everything even more unbearable. I didn't eat tea tonight, but I ate about seven hot-dogs. I'm sure this post was much more effective before I started rambling.)

Did I say I've got my own john gospels to give out now. How are you supposed to go about this? I'm not very good at evangelism.

Check with your college - Queens' has put a ban on door-to-door gospling, and anyone found doing more than putting a gospel in a pidgeonhole is liable for Big Trouble

Eek, really? I'm at herts uni actually, so not in any cam college, so I hope it isn't quite the same, otherwise I'd be too scared to give them out. We're having evangelism week next week anyway, so I don't think the uni can be too opressive about it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Queens' got a big bee in their bonnets as we have a general "no door to door harrasment" that looked like it was being wavered for the CICCU people just because they were christian (and so got on well with the dean etc). And a lot of people objected to being evangelised (especially people who already considered themselves christian, but weren't CICCU, like the anglicans and methodists) and so used this as their point of argument. I think if you're doing a big hall of residence or something, it would be wise to check with whoever is organising the event / whoever is in charge of the hall that they don't object to what you're doing though

The usuall way... by not knocking on people's doors and rather advertising themselves in a slightly more polite mannter perhaps?

I don't understand the need to go around and annoy everyone just to tell them things that the don't agree with because if they did agree with them then they'd be in CICCU, it advertises enough allready!

Queens' CU are taking the stance that they should be allowed to knock on the door and give a gospel to anyone that "they would normally go and visit and would feel comfortable talking to about their religion anyway". So it's the basic CICCU system of assigning their evangelists people they know and carrying on regardless, but it does mean if you know noone from CICCU to the point where you would offer them a cup of tea you should escape the door to door confrontation. TBH I don't see they loose a lot - there are enough random people wandering round in promise tops that if someone finds a gospel in their p'hole and wants to talk to someone about it it's not a big effort to find someone this week (I mean, there are talks on every 10 minutes, or so it feels) and if they're not interested then it just saves them having to be rude to someone they don't know.

Have just been bored enough to look up the email the JCR sent round...

Oh, foop. Many hugs. If I were close enough I'd invite you to come ride on my purple bulldozer. I should have a purple bulldozer to invite you to ride on.

I would issue Stern Orders for you to feel better if I thought it would do any good.

But you're supposed to be eating the hot-dogs on Friday!

Oh, and clawing out eyes really isn't much fun. Just stick with the howling.

Bad advice from Edith: Get drunk, cry lots into the shoulder of an understanding friend. Go to sleep. In the morning realise that things aren't actually that bad and get on with life having burned off some angst.

Nothing much more to say that you don't know already.
