chess: (sleeeepy)
Quite a while ago now - 18th June - I recieved an email in German, addressed to 'tony@cl.cam.ac.uk', to my Cam addy. I thought it was probably some kind of 419-scam thing, but actually it appears to be a report of a news item, like one would send around things. From 'execdir@royalmetsoc.org'. I can't work out how to get Hermes to giv eme full headers, so I can't work out if it was in any way addressed to me or whether Hermes was having a complete off day...

Now I shall go to sleep.

You have to do Enable Full Headers in the Setup/Config page for H to work, so you could turn it off. Possibly Chess is using the webmail thingy.

The webmail thingy is called Prayer. Originally, when I was getting mails from one of my Christunfrends on hermes with "Prayer" in the headers (you see, I do press "H" out of curiousity), I thought it was some kind of mailer for Christians. Perhaps it filters out porn, mention of Richard Dawkins or something, I thought. Disappointingly, it turns out that it's called Prayer because the Oxford version is called Wing.

I have no idea how you persuade Prayer to give you full headers.

Webmail.hermes.cam.ac.uk? I think you click the "full headers" link at the top right when viewing a message?

(I remember when the light dawned about Microsoft. I was looking for a way to view full headers in Outlook. I toggled a menu option, something like "Show headers" - and it hid the sender and time sent :()

Well, you can convince outlook to show you full headers.

It seems unlikely that tony@cl.cam.ac.uk exists.
