• ... ChessyPig, then you might know me through a Wiki, or through GROGGS, or maybe DWCon, or have asked which form of not-real-name I prefer;


• ... Michelle, then you probably know me IRL, or well enough that I prefer you to use my real name anyway;


• ... Kastaka, then you know me online from somewhere I don't give out even my usual net-name (FictionAlley, numerous game-type websites);

I've probably forgotten a ton of names; I've been through an awful lot of them. If anyone can remember any others, then comment. (I went through a ton in the Pern fandom, but I was always actually called as myself, and always listed my real name before my persona names.)

I have far fewer nick names and alot of the names i get called arnt very nice. My bowling name was actually uset to anoy me but i quite liked it and kept it to boal under.

Hmmm, lots of good nameses. So do you actually prefer Chess or Michelle in RL? I actually like my netname, on the principle that my parents gave me my real name when I was a rather anonymous pink baby thing, but I chose my netname for myself.

I'm with Michelle on this. I much prefer being called "Matthew" [hm. should do this meme myself someday], and am forever suprised at being called "Emperor" or "Republic" IRL. OTOH, calling me Matthew on IRC will also confuse me.

I think I always call people by their real names unless I have reason not to. I guess stating a preference would count as a reason (but I still call Miriam Miriam not Angel, so it doesn't always hold)...

As emperor correctly surmised, I prefer 'Michelle'. I can imagine that I might use a netname if I didn't like my actual name, but I do like it. Unfortunately I dislike any and all shortenings of it...

Oh, I've just got so used to answering anything that people seem to be addressing me with.

I will turn around in public places if you shout "Senji", and won't with "Jonathan" (too many embarrassing false positives there!)
