chess: (cheeky little girl)
This is not a time I like to see on a Saturday, especially as I've already been up an hour. And I'm in a suit, which is scary. (The occasion is my dad graduating (from APU with an MBA).)

And the plot monkeys appear to have suddenly decided that the second book of Time Horizon wants to get written, and isn't going to take no for an answer. Bye-bye, planning. Oh well. (The second book is the space-opera bit where I need to de-Trek-ise it, but I just came up with a social structure and half a dozen alien races, so I think I'm doing fairly well - it's easier now I haven't watched any Star Trek for eons.)

On Tuesday we went to Hampton Court, randomly. It was very pretty. We also got to play with cool audio guides - massive things with a CD in - and there was lots of stuff we didn't get around to doing because the place is *big* and most of it is open and audio-tour-able. (They also do conventional tours with people in costume, but that's not as fun because the huge crowds of people they lead round mean you can barely hear them or see anything. We caught up with one once.) We looked at the gardens through some windows but didn't wander around them because it was rainy and cold and nasty. And then we had cookies and flapjack because we suddenly realised we were going to hit the rush-hour whenever we left now. We didn't hit it that badly, though.

Whee for not getting anything done in half-term. Least of all the drawer-dusting and coding that I wanted to. (Not fair to myself, really - I have done some of the first one, I've typed up a whole load of junk that may or may not make it onto my website depending on how much I think it sucks, and I filled in the Really Important Form.) Also whee for eyes that hurt and are very bloodshot and worrying. Also also whee for being a totally incompetant GM, annoying all the players that are actually still posting (that'll be one, then) and generally wanting to give that up as a bad idea. Also also also whee for NaNoWriMo, the stupid insane plot monkeys, and the wonders of peer pressure.

Looks like we're off now. Send not-falling-asleep thoughts.
