I have my first offer! It's from Sheffield, where I have no intention of going. And it's two Bs. So at least I have somewhere to go if I prove in January that I'm actually as bad at maths as I think I am.

Bath is a nice place. The city's quite pretty and clean and generally safe-looking (and apparently it is actually very safe for a city), and the campus is your general-purpose campus-university affair. (Very similar to Surrey, and quite similar to Kent, although significantly more compact, which is a good thing.) The lecturer that we spoke to (my parents made fun of me for heading for the guy with the long hair and crazy beard, but naturally he was actually the most interesting to talk to...) was rather cool, too.

All of this means it's rather a shame they don't have a hope of actually getting me to accept an offer from them, because they're planning to offer me AAB and they don't do Electronics, so if York offers AAB they're pretty much out of the running.

(I would make this write-up longer, and might write more later, but now I have to disappear for lessons. Bah.)

Congratulations!

I never got an offer that low ;-( (Obviously they like you).

Bath has the San Fransico Fudge Shop, which is far more important than electronics (I hadn't realised you really wanted to do eletronics).

I'm surprised Bath's offer is so high. I guess they must have had a lot of demand for their compsci course.

there's a fudge shop here...
which is obviously better than the one in Bath.

Well following this comment I went to the fudge shop and bought a slice of fudge. And it is very nice fudge ... but it's not quite as good as the fudge from the SanFransico Fudge Factory, and there's a lot less choice in the (much smaller) shop in Cambridge.

Gark! And bugger! And similar. I don't have my Bath open day 'til mid-Febuary, but thanks for letting me know about the offer gubbins...

*Tickles you for no good reason*

Nah you like it really[1].

<Joins in tickling you>

[1] What a stupid phrase. I mean like, no. If I liked it I wouldn't be complaining about it, duh!

Rats, I've just proved myself wrong again haven't I?

Bath's EEE course is (or at least was in my day) one of the top 3 (the others were Bristol and Southampton). It's a good well balanced course, and the MEng is well worth the extra year. You can probably tell it's the one I took!

Sounds like you met my old boss from my research days there, Prof Rodger. Dave's a cool guy, and his courses are well taught and great fun. His office is a great study in paper archaeology...

That's 'cause comp sci at Bath is maths... but (and this is the confusing bit) there's loads of computing in EEE...
