Ugh. I haven't posted any actual content here for ages.

Last night, I dreamt about Threadfall. But it wasn't proper Threadfall - it was falling like rain, in little patches, but all over the place, everywhere - it was falling all over the world. We were in this building that looked like a conference hall / dorm rooms complex, sitting on the landing in the middle of a staircase with red-painted rails and a black handrail, and white walls, and we knew it was the end of the world. We sat around, not saying much to each other, wondering what was happening up there where the dragons were trying to protect croplands and rainforests, but so many of them were getting Threadscores.

We felt a breeze, and ran through the halls, and someone had opened a window, and there were little pellets of Thread blowing in, but no-one dared close it, even though they were eating into the carpet and soon the room wouldn't be safe. So I reached out and shut it, and a little pellet buried itself into my arm, and I dug it out with a belt knife and threw it on the floor with the others, then got everyone out of the room and shut the door.

There was also a scene in this huge warehouse, with brick walls and a corragated-iron roof, in which were sheltering a number of injured dragons, including Cassinath, his wings covered in small holes from where Thread pellets had hit him, and there was a flashback to him coming out of /between/ and realising that one more flap would rip his wings apart, so he flashes /between/ again and lands in a lake to shed his excess velocity, wings folded right in. He floats underwater, where the Thread can't reach, for a few minutes, and then someone flashes him a picture of the warehouse and he appears with a coating of ice from the water, which means he is shivering miserably because it's cold in the warehouse anyway.

And I look out of a clear plate glass window, and the Thread looks like snow, but the ground is a carpet of fleshy colours rather than white, and it's only a matter of time before the foundations of the building give way, and the dragons can no longer fly, and it really is the end of the world. But it all looks so peaceful and beautiful.

You know ... I was thinking that too (not in that I'm not intrested in your dreams, more just an observation that you hadn't actually told us anything about your life atm).

Neil

P.S.: That's really quite a disturbing dream ... I know I stumbled on rain like thread by accident once ... but where did all this apocolyptic thought come from?
