I've just been bitten by a dog.
I was walking home from the station, up the end of Bulford Lane, and I saw this old guy walking this huge Alsatian. The dog was on a leash, and I was determined not to be scared, 'cos dogs that big are normally well trained and everything, so I just casually walked past. The guy held the leash a bit shorter when I got close, but the path was quite narrow, and the dog leapt up at me - I thought, never mind, dogs do this, he's just being friendly - and then the wretched thing bit me! The guy pulled the leash back and it didn't draw blood, but it hurts lots and has grazed it, and it's going to be this enormous bruise. I stumbled up to the house because I was so scared I couldn't speak, and fumbled with my bag to get the key out, while he stood there not knowing quite what to do, but when I went into the house he walked off. Then we saw him going up the drive of a nearby house, so my parents went to see him.

Date: 2002-03-19 09:55 pm (UTC)From:My very first deposition was of a lady in her early 50's who was bitten by a dog. She was bitten on one thigh and the opposite ankle, dragged down a flight of stairs, and required three layers of stitches. Her doctor told her that she'd never know how close she came to dying that day. Dogs must be controlled; if they can't be trained, if they bite people, they are a public danger. Take care, and I hope that you recover okay.
