Lollapalooza - a musical tour here (in America) of alternative/indie bands

Leukaemia - a disease in which the white blood cells reproduce franticlly, affecting bone marrow and lymph nodes

Lymphoma - also a disease affecting the lymphnodes

Loyola is a place, though not sure where. There's a saint from there - Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Lamella and lamina - a thin scale, plate, or layer of bone or tissue (lamina is also used in geology to refer to a thin vein or plate of rock)

Latifundia.- a roman word meaning 'great estate'

Lhasa - capital of Tibet, centre of Tibetan Buddhism, long closed to foreingers

Lusaka - capital of Zambia

Lemma(s) - an intial proposition

loa - A genus of parasitic nematodes found in the rain-forest areas of the Sudan and the Congo
