Happy Yuletide! I hope you enjoy writing for me. I am not at all fussy and will be fond of whatever you turn up with!
Note: My AO3 name is kastaka
If you want prompts, here are my prompts and general froth per fandom:
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
I am hopelessly addicted to this game. I especially love the characters who are somewhat more disconnected from standard morality, like Nenio with her relentless focus on knowledge, and Wenduag with her terrible life choices in the context of a terrible life.
Happy to see them separately or in the same story, perhaps just their perspective on a scene, perhaps the fallout of yet another Important Experiment or Unfortunate Allegiance - maybe even how Nenio writes up Wenduag for the inevitable Encyclopedia entry...
Black Box - Jennifer Egan
If you're looking for an easy pickup canon because you're intimidated by your actual picks now: this is a short story, available free at https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2012/06/04/black-box
It's amazingly atmospheric and of course I want to know what happens next. How does the first return meeting of the narrator and her husband go? How does the alpha beauty deal with the brief intrusion into her world, that she cared for and that betrayed 'her' man? What did this look like from the point of view of the Designated Mate, how does he rationalise what happened, does he bury his fear as he runs away from the island or does he use it to survive the fallout?
Feel free to pick whichever character(s) you are most fond of to follow, or to do an alternate perspective on the main events if you don't want to look into the future of the piece.
Machineries of Empire Series - Yoon Ha Lee
This world is so rich and multilayered and I just want to see where you want to take it, but if you don't have any specific ideas here are some:
What's it like to be an ordinary person during these extraordinary events? How does their life change when the Calendar is changed, and how does it stay the same? How do they get on with "the small acts that kept civilization moving"?
I can't get enough about servitors. Servitors gossiping about the terrible and weird and inexplicable things that non-artificial people get up to, servitor factions scheming their revolution or freedom or their own philosophical interests, the different kinds of servitors and how they relate to each other, what they think of the new world and how they want to shape it...
