I think these Johari Window things that have popped back up all over the place would be much more interesting if they let you choose an arbitary number of words.

All they do in their current form is irritate me immensely as they all end up with this enormous list in 'Blind Spot' which isn't necessarily actually a blind spot, it might just be that someone else chooses one of the other words in the very close together families of words (like 'caring', 'loving' and 'giving').

(I may be slightly more easily irrationally irritated at the moment as I have been getting about five hours sleep a night this week...)

Ah, they don't let you choose more than five or six at all? Damn.

(I am staying away from them after finding the link to the "Nohari" variant, which has the negative forms of all the adjectives, and staring at it in fascination for entirely too long.)

I was vexed by this too - until I realised that the semantic difference between similar words is very significant when you accumulate many responses. I am perceived as self-assertive, for example, but not bold or extroverted - and others vary wildly between being called loving, caring, warm and friendly. Synonym saturation renders it pretty rubbish at its intended purpose, but useful in other ways.

Yes.

As someone who is intrigued by the English language and shades of meaning, this becomes fascinating.

Definitely agree. There have been several people who "Bold" seemed much better a fit than brave, though both could apply.

It would be useful though, to find out what your real blind spot is, possibly via subtagging the other stuff you think applies to you, as there are definitely things I wasn't particularly expecting in my blind spot, as well as stuff I would've put if I'd've had more choices.
