My life is still dull, so have another meme.

What's your opinion on reading and writing?
Mithril: It gets things done. You need it in a city.
Ayeena: I can't believe Marigold's still illiterate, and Piccolo didn't notice.
Jessily: *growls* Right now I never want to see a wax tablet or an inkpot again. Ask me again when I've finished the third sodding pamphlet.
Tesseract: They are fine and righteous arts and I kind of wish I could get them right.
K'sen: *defensive* How many sacks of firestone can you lift at once, huh? Then don't talk to me about reading and writing.
What's your opinion on maths, sciences, and language(s)?
Mithril: *shrugs* Languages are useful. Mage stuff's kind of handy to know a bit of at times.
Ayeena: I guess the dwarves are into that kind of thing. I've always wanted to learn other languages, but there's never time.
Jessily: *pained expression*
Tesseract: ...other people can worry about that kind of thing.
K'sen: You what with the what now? I think you mistook me for a crafter or something.
What is the best way to learn something?
Mithril: Do it. Live it. Be it. Or... something in general, not something in particular? Listen to things.
Ayeena: Sometimes I think the only way anyone learns anything in this world is by their mistakes.
Jessily: I preferred the 'talking to dead people and having visions' bit to the 'hanging upside-down by my ankle in the jungle' bit.
Tesseract: ...get someone to show you? Go out there and look for things?
K'sen: *groans* If you find out, tell me.
To what degree do you avoid risks and danger?
Mithril: Every time I try to avoid risks and danger, risks and danger just come along and find me.
Ayeena: I do not; it is my duty to seek them out at all opportunities, to avoid them endangering anyone less well equipped to deal with them.
Jessily: *eyes downcast, then looks up nervously* I'm... just doing what I need to survive.
Tesseract: I don't. If you don't seek them out, they'll come to you when you're least prepared for them.
K'sen: *grumpily* Seems like everyone else is determined to steer me around them anyway.
Under what circumstances would you risk your life for someone else?
Mithril: I try to make them see. Sometimes, they don't understand.
Ayeena: If they need me. If I'm there.
Jessily: I took her hand and I ran through the darkness... I'd do it again, but I couldn't tell you when or for who.
Tesseract: Do they need me? Will they thank me for it? Then I'm there.
K'sen: It's my job. It's my duty.
Under what circumstances do you think killing someone is justified, in general?
Mithril: To prevent greater harm.
Ayeena: The evil will always seek to harm the good, and sometimes they won't stop unless you kill them.
Jessily: I... (small, tearful voice) don't.
Tesseract: When they're bad. When they're wrong. When they're in your way, if your cause is true.
K'sen: If... if they were a threat to dragonkind. Or Pern. Or... me and mine. Probably then.
Under which circumstances would you, personally, kill (or have you killed) someone?
Mithril: There are people I would kill, given the opportunity. They are simply too dangerous to be allowed to live.
Ayeena: Defending my friends. Doing what's right.
Jessily: ...I would do it, if I had to. I think. I can't be sure.
Tesseract: If they're in my way. If they're hurting my friends. If they're wrong, and can't be persuaded to stop.
K'sen: I hope I never have to. The threat of a dragon is usually enough. *thoughtful* Or, you know. If they're suffering and can't be healed. I could do that, too.
What is the worst feeling you experienced?
Mithril: *fingers her braided hair sadly, screws up her eyes* No, it wasn't that. It was when I saw him... again...
Ayeena: I thought we were all going to die, and it was going to have been my fault.
Jessily: *cries* I can't stop them. I can't stop them. There's nothing I can do.
Tesseract: My only friend in the world was *dead* and I was just trying to offer the elf a *seat* and then I got *kicked out of High Table*.
K'sen: I... I hurt her. I made her sad because I was looking at him. And I still couldn't stop doing it.
And what is the best feeling?
Mithril: It's... it's hard to remember right now. But that one, where someone reads what you made, and they laugh with delight, and you know that you made the world better for them? That one.
Ayeena: Victory. Coming out of a battle shining and knowing that you won and that you were right.
Jessily: There's... that lightness? When things are inevitable. You know that in a moment it will be hard and embarrassing and painful and everything will go wrong, but in that moment everything is clear and perfect and true...
Tesseract: Friends. Respect. Being part of something. A useful part. An important part. Being looked up to.
K'sen: To feel her in my mind and know it's all been worth it.
