Am currently lame at reading LJ as well as at updating it. Keep failing to get up in the morning, not getting into work until 10 or 11, then consequentially not getting home until 6 or 7, devoid of a brain. Also there has been a lot of Rule7 froth in the wake of Maelstrom and my usual obsessive stalking of everyone linked off Maelfroth to read all their Maelstrom event reports and stuff.

As if I hadn't had enough of a LARP fix from Maelstrom (which was fantastic and I have a new character who is purple and I believe that every single thing I did other than being purple was spectacularly FOIP), I went to monster a Jackals event (LT sanctioned event) this weekend, which was awesome, and I even managed it without taking any time off work, which was only possible by getting Nicholas to pack everything.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to character a sanctioned event as you have to camp instead of getting nice indoor sleeping quarters, you have to stand around a lot in the cold instead of getting to march out, do something fun, and march back in again for another kit change and more fantastic makeup, you don't get snacks or easy access to the kitchen, and you're about a sixth as hard as the monsters unless you've spent several years collecting Magical Spong. Monstering for the Jackals is quite spectacular, though, given the quantity of decent kit, the beautiful makeup jobs, the decent briefing and general care and attention paid to making sure everyone's happy and feels appreciated.

And this week marks the start of term and CUTT again, where I will be running lots of stuff in order to lead up to and run thils year's big weekend event / 3ygb. I'm hoping I can make it just as good an experience to monster as the Jackals event, if a little smaller, and miles better to play (as we're on a many-to-one monster-to-character ratio rather than barely a one-to-one ratio).
