First proper dream since XF last night! Must mean I'm finally back to normal on tiredness...

Twas a very satisfyingly rambling dream with pretty obvious sources. The 'first' scene (twas a bit overlaid for chronological ordering) was to do with me having to go into town and do stuff today with a planned end-time of 3pm at the latest. Completely unfamiliar town (based loosely on St. Omer, where I went in Y7, as far as I can tell) with lots of brightly coloured shops selling stuff I didn't want, and in two places in the circle of street I kept going round there were food vendors with wooden stalls - one sold just sausages in buns (with added random stuff, some of which looked like sweetcorn) and one sold burgers or sausages in buns (also with random stuff - I'm sure I saw some celery leaves in there). Eventually it got near time to go so I took the other road off at the fountain (there were only three roads off the main square, two led to the loop) and found myself falling down a hillside in the dark. After managing to stop rollling, I looked around suspiciously, and suddenly there was a cacophony of animal noises and loads of animals rushed past me chasing each other - a mouse was chasing a lion that was chasing a giraffe that was chasing a dog that was chasing a cat that was chasing a mouse, and so on. Eventually I leapt on the back of the lion and was carried off. After being thrown off a couple of times and finding different ways to avoid being trampled, I was left in the middle of the path with the giraffe thundering at me and lost consciousness.

When I woke up I was in a cell like they always have in the sheriff's office in westerns, with all the animals (it was a tight fit for the poor giraffe!). Apparently as the only sentient member of the group I was being charged for 'inciting stampede' and the damages done to the town. I was mostly worried that I had to get out of the cell in time to meet my mother, and kept pleading to at least be allowed to call her.

Eventually we were all trooped out into this court-room type place (the animals were all being very subdued and obedient) and given seats to wait for the last case to finish before we went on. There was a guy of indeterminate age, I'd have said around 30-ish, sitting in a chair, and a older-looking, nervous guy pointing what looked like a miniture rocket launcher at him. The judge was hidden from view, and after a little nervous questioning from the guy with the rocket launcher the judge pronounced the death sentance. (there was a little whispered discussion about how that wasn't really a rocket launcher and that there were explosives on the wall behind the guy that I overheard.) The guy with the rocket launcher aimed it shakily and fired. There was lots of smoke, mainly from above the guy in the chair, and the guy in the chair was entirely unharmed. He was then led off by a couple of officials.

I never got to the trial scene because my focus followed the guy being led out, through another couple of similar 'trials', and him persuading his 'victims' to help him appear to commit a crime without actually hurting anyone, and eventually a confrontation between him and, well, me. The story of 'me' was that I'd slipped away from the courtroom before the trial and taken on a false identity, called Alia. I'd tried to find out more about the person I'd seen in the courtroom (for no good reason) and managed to meet up with him a couple of times, as another false-identity person, Galania. It was as Galania I was at this meeting. He explained how he was almost a thousand years old and just wanted to die, but something just wasn't permitting him to. Alaria, one of Alia's friends, had some contacts amongst the people who set the explosives for executions, and one of them confessed he'd been setting them wrong under the pay of someone he wouldn't reveal. Alia and Alaria had a big argument over whether they could help Garan (the guy who wanted to die) end his life, and eventually Alaria stormed off. Alia tried to follow her, but didn't manage to. At the next trial, Alia sat as close as she could to the dais with the seat, and as the nervous guy raised the rocket launcher Alaria stood up and shot Garan with a pistol from the stands. Garan calls out "Thank you, Alia!" and slumps over, dead. Alia is paralyzed by shock. Last scene from this section - Alia's granddaughter (about 10) is reading a section from the history of Garan (who was 989 years old when he died) and Alia (at the indeterminate age) is telling her of the argument with Alaria and how Galania was really trying to persuade Garan not to die.

The next section was a very odd combination of stuff. The layout was that each 'player' had a building in which was a kitchen where people were cooking burgers, and a hand of M:TG cards, and an SCV. With these, you had to defend the kitchen against the troops of the other side. Ian did a perfect start with the cards (some kind of land that gave him one white and one colourless mana, the colourless mana got him a mana generation card, and then two white mana got him a 2/1 flying creature (with that thing where you had to pay next go as well). And then somehow he got one arbiter and some firebats.

In my turn I tried to do the same but didn't have the second mana-source so had to make do with more mana to spend on troops, and went heavily for siege tanks then belatedly got a couple of marines. The marines went to pick on the arbiter but got gunned down, and the firebats started taking out the tanks, but then the red player (I was yellow, Ian was blue) came over with an observer and some vultures and picked on the firebats for a bit before going after Ian's base, although some of the vultures got eaten by the bird-thing. I tried to talk to the ppl inside my kitchen but if I opened a window there was either too much steam for me to look in it or Neil looked out and said angrily "You're letting all the heat out!" and closed the window again. I managed a missile turret and a flying thing next go, and basically sat there expanding my network of tanks and turrets until on the penultimate go an earthquake and a flood of wraiths almost got me - the flying thing managed to hold quite a few off tho (Ian's flying thing had been got by some scouts from red earlier).

After that the people cooking the burgers came out and we all had a big meal on picnic benchs - XFppl. I got burgers with just meat and cheese slices in them, yay!

And I think that was about it for the dream, which is a Good Thing because this has taken me over an hour to write! Hope you appreciate this, Sath...

*unrandom bouncing due to going to see Neil tomorrow, yay!*

Yay!

That has to be one of the funniest dreams I've ever heard about, its sooooooo much an Alice In Wonderland thing (expecially with the courtroom and the wondering about mundane things when you're in a cell with a girraffe being accuse of starting a stampede... hmmm).

Anyway, thats was much appreciated Chess-In-Wonderland ;)
