Could really do with not having anything to think about for the next week or so. Period's due. Am feeling the 'meh' already. And I have to cope with parents. When apparently I could have just not bothered coming home. Also, my computer isn't back yet because they needed the restore disks; they apparently need them to run a diagnostic tool that they have to run according to procedures, even though they already know what's wrong, before they can order any parts. And the restore disks were sellotaped into a box in the loft. So my parents had to clamber around and find them, because I was CHaOSing and out of touch.
Given I haven't been LJing consistantly, you all probably don't know that I was out last week helping with Cambridge Hands-On Science's summer tour; demonstrating Stuff to kids. I started off with bridges, 'cos I'd done them at the Children's Festival, but decided that Airstreams was much better (I could say more interesting stuff and felt I was teaching people something, rather than bridges which was practical but only really had one or two points). I taught many children about air pressure and temperature and stuff, and also quite a few parents.
There were a couple of interesting incidents, like the guy in the pub at Ipswich who came to rant at us about how people should only look after people in their own country, and the guy who came and looked around and didn't believe at first that we could teach children anything and was very impressed when it appeared that we could, and was a fairly well-off ex-navy guy who went around doing volunteer conservation projects on bridges and suchlike, and lived on the streets by choice. Strange but cool.
Now I am all tired out.
