3 things which scare me: Myself. Compliments. Lust.
3 things which I don't understand: Discrete Maths, compscis who do physics, a ton of Linux stuff.
3 things I'd like to learn: Archery, some form of martial art, a technique whereby I click my fingers and everything is right with the world.
3 things I am wearing right now: Watch. Glasses. Trainers.
3 things on my desk: A sleeping dragon. A christmas penguin. A green Millenium Bug.
3 things I want to do before I die: Save everyone. Fail to run away screaming. Everything else is pretty trivial in comparision, really.
3 good things about my personality: Likable. Caring. Stubborn.
3 bad things about my personality: Lazy. Taste for danger. Vicious.
3 parts of my heritage: Which heritage? The long line of essex peasentry? Or the geek heritage that I feel less and less able to lay claim to?
3 things I like about my body: I'm acceptably pretty. My fingernails don't break easily. I like my eyes, but I'm not sure I could say why.
3 things I don't like about my body: It doesn't like me. My respiritory system is broken, especially in winter. My digestive system is also broken, which means I Really Have To take medication every day and also limits what I can eat.
3 things most people don't know about me: The majority of the population of the world does not know me (despite what it can feel like at times). So, for example, most people do not know I have brown hair, blue-ish eyes, and am called Michelle. There are a lot of things that various subcategories of people do not know about me, including a few things that very few people know about me, mostly those directly involved. The latter collection are for the other people concerned to tell, and not for me, though.
3 things I say the most: I don't recall specific word patterns, so I wouldn't be able to say. I don't think I currently have any 'catchphrases' which I deliberately or obviously say a lot.
3 places I want to go: Heaven. Beyond that, I have no particular preference; some places have more comfortable weather and more people that I know than others, I suppose, but here is fairly reasonable as far as terrestrial places go.
3 names that I go by: In decreasing order of preference - Michelle, Chessypig, Chess.
3 screen names I use or have used: Kastaka, Shari, mcachessilnath

Date: 2003-11-27 03:50 pm (UTC)From:1. All good things to fear. I just happened to have other things I feared more. There really ought to be some documentation on how to deal with compliments somewhere. Or, indeed, general interaction with society.
2b. Directors of studies have often been known to tell 50% CompScis that if they do not do Physics they will almost certainly fail. Does this clear matters up?
3a, 3b. Archery *is* a martial art, dammit! I've already had this debate once today, but I think the person in question was winding me up.
3c, 6a. What if we don't want to be saved? What if our definitions of "right" differ from yours? Free will's a real pain when you're trying to save the world.
8. I hadn't actually noticed. ::makes a note to be more observant::
9. I think just wanting to be a geek qualifies you. Higher grades are only acquired once you *stop* wanting them.
12a. Pedant. ^_~
12b. That reads as though you actively want other people to blab about your private life. Is that what you mean?
13. "(verb), little (noun), (verb)!"?
14a. You subscribe to the belief that Heaven is, in some sense, a physical place, rather than a state of being? Eeenteresting.
15. You prefer your birth name to the others? Noted - I'd assumed you were like Naath in this respect.
(as you may be able to guess, I'm procrastinating)

Date: 2003-11-27 04:07 pm (UTC)From:Archery is not a practical martial art; I think carrying a bow in 'self-defence' would probably not be looked on particularly well. Also, you only get to hit targets in archery.
Free will is indeed a right pain when trying to save the world. After all, if it didn't exist, the world wouldn't need to be saved. Well, you're perfectly entitled to get exactly what you ask for; you just might not like it when it arrives.
I've been very much suppressing my viciousness and taste for danger since I got here, on the grounds that I could quite well find danger and not like it quite so much after all.
I don't actually mind people talking about 'my private life', insofar as I have one; I only have a 'private' life on the grounds that some people would prefer me not to talk about some things. (Occasionally I worry that things might disturb other people or be taken the wrong way, but only occasionally, and so far I've always stopped worrying about it quite quickly.)
Meh, I only say things like 'spin, little robot, spin!' when I've been doing the passive drinking thing (i.e. getting tired and amused at the same time).
I do visualise Heaven as somewhat a physical place as well as a state of being, yes.
And I do indeed prefer my birth name; I've been trying to shake off 'chess' a bit, because the source of it is no longer particularly relevant and leads to a) people mistaking it for a reference to the game, which I loathe, and b) long and complicated explanations of Things I Have Left Behind. Although I'm starting not to mind the latter any more; enough time has passed, I think.
