You're just doing this to freak us out!

(And posting a link on your friends page is simply a sign of insecurity: you want to garner admissions of affection from your friends whom you wish to believe are irresistibly attracted to you ... good grief I'm quite good at this ...).

Tell her people who claim to be on a dating service 'just for amusement' are just making an excuse to hide their desire to have people after them to alleviate their low self esteem and elicit a sexual thrill, or some similar I'm-a-psychologist...
That's probably true in some cases, but not necessarily all. I think Chess does have a low self esteem though, but she's also pretty bored, and has lived a pretty sheltered homelife, so its plausible to be any number of things. I don't think I've interacted with her enough to say for sure she's doing it for a sexual thrill ;) She may just be doing it because she's a lemming, and likes to feel as though she fits in, so she did what everyone else was doing. ;)
(And posting a link on your friends page is simply a sign of insecurity: you want to garner admissions of affection from your friends whom you wish to believe are irresistibly attracted to you ..
I didn't even follow that one.
For what it's worth, I signed up for friendster too. I really did see it more as a friends-network thing, and not a dating service thing, and I'm in a spot where I've been thinking I need to expose myself to new ideas and people. Maybe I should add you back on if you're not going to be scared at all the queer polyamourous heathens commenting too.

Date: 2003-06-08 06:10 am (UTC)From:I don't understand ... add me back on to your friends list? In which case why should polyamourmous heathens end up commenting on my journal? Last time I checked you were neither. Are you expecting that your friends will end up looking at your friends page and hence on my journal if you friended me?

Date: 2003-06-08 06:46 am (UTC)From:We'll discuss if I'm a polyamourmous heathen at another date, though.
Re: Firinel!
Date: 2003-06-14 08:26 am (UTC)From:I still don't see how your friending me would bring me into contact with people on your friends list. Are you in fact not asking whether you can friend me (of course you can, if the entry is public I obviously don't mind who's reading it), or whether if you friend me I'll friend you?
In summary you're entirely welcome to friend me, but I make no promises about reading your posts whether you do or not ;-).
