Comment notification weirdness

It appears that when someone posts a reply to your comment on someone else's LJ, even if that comment would be screened by default by that other LJ's settings (e.g. due to anonymity / not being on the friends list), you get emailed the comment.

I didn't know this and so I suspect some other people don't. I'm not sure if it's relevant outside any contrived situation but I found it vaguely interesting.
