Okay, it's about time I got this down in a coherant fashion and asked for help...

The choices are: Compsci, Maths, Physics, or some combination.

Compsci:
Pros: I know I'd be good at it. I know that compsci stuff excites me. I know I'd like all of it, because I can understand what all of the 'course content' bits mean, or at least most of them. If I was going to say which course I was certain I'd enjoy, it'd be this one; probably it'd be the one I'd enjoy most.
Cons: It doesn't feel like a 'proper' subject. It entails spending lots of time at a computer, which I do too much of anyway, and it really wouldn't be good for me to be doing computery stuff all day and then spod all night too. Same problem if I become a computer programmer or summat - would have to find something else to do in free time, 'cos computer use all the time is not good. Also afraid that compsci courses will attract more 'normal' people than Physics/Maths courses, so I won't like as many of the ppl I'm taking the course with.

Physics:
Pros: I've always been drawn to the subject of Physics, for one reason or another - although mainly the electronics side of things, and computer simulation. I'm pretty sure I'd be up to it, really. It's a 'real subject'. Quite a bit of it is off the computer, so I wouldn't have to give up much computer time for it - although the areas I'm most interested in are the most computer-oriented ones, naturally.
Cons: I've become quite disillusioned by Physics throughout secondary school, although it may just be boredom through an underchallenging syllabus and way too much repetition. But I don't really know what degree-level Physics entails, and people have been scary at me about visualisation stuff or summat which I think I'm pants at. And I'm just generally not so sure I'm extremely interested in it, any more. I couldn't guarantee to myself that I'd enjoy the course.

Maths:
Pros: I wouldn't get bored through underwork :-) plus I rather like A-level maths, better than A-level Physics - but that could just be because I'm doing Further Maths so we're doing Maths faster, so I don't get bored through underwork. And there's not a chance of having to do any practical stuff.
Cons: I'm not really sure I'm good enough. I'm pretty certain that I'm not good enough to be a research mathematician, and I kinda want an academic career, and so I don't know what I'd do with a maths degree, really.

Can anyone help?

Today I did P1. Seemed to go okay, but then again, I actually did some revision :-)

Tomorrow I had PE, boo hiss.

However, what I wish to relate is The Anecdote Of The Toothbrush Song Man.

Once upon a time, notsolongago, a Chessypig got an email, which was addressed to Sath, and CC'd to her Yahoo account. This email contained a request for the original words of The Toothbrush Song, because of this page with an, uh, *interesting* version on. He then went and found the Ravine site, from the link on my front page, and emailed the addresses found in there, 'cos I don't have an email-me link.

Well, the Chessypig was intreigued by this development, and replied to said email, with a general 'no, sorry, don't know - but how did you find me? and who are you?'. Said Toothbrush Song Man replied, with a pretty comprehensive 'How-you-got-to-know-me FAQ', with his MSN profile, why he was looking for the Toothbrush Song, the URL he finally found it at, and the fact he was interested by the idea of XF, 'cos he'd found the XF website while trawling through subdomains to my site...

So the Chessypig replied, with a mini-IAQ (Infrequently Asked Questions) about herself, which she didn't keep a copy of, unfortunately. Mainly various weird names and stuff. And sure enough, an email was returned, asking for the MSN username of the Chessypig, for the purposes of chatting.

The Chessypig, therefore, took it upon herself to introduce The Toothbrush Man to Snowplains, it being her primary form of communication. And lo, The Toothbrush Man did come to Snowplains, under the name of EdwardRoss, although at first he thought it was a Java-chatroom because he accessed it through the website and had to be corrected of this notion. And after said correction, he was muchly impressed.

And the Chessypig gave her MSN messenger name to The Toothbrush Man, because MSN works way better from school than Snowplains, although both now work. And after the moderate evils of the P1 exam, she did proceed to the computer room and meet another random on MSN, courtesy of The Toothbrush Man, known as Flibble. And Naath, Sath, Melody and Chess did proceed to torment, entertain, flirt with and chat to (in roughly that order) said randoms.

And this is where the onceuponatime meets the present, apart from a few conversations with both Toothbrush Man and RandomFlibble when the Chessypig arrived home.

./~ I'm alive, she cried, but I don't know what it means
somewhere out there across the moonlit sands
there's a line drawn like the lines on her own hand ~\.

I don't know why, but this bit of song is haunting me atm. Probably because I'm in a whiny mood and it's a pretty whiny piece of song.
