Jul. 20th, 2001 08:22 pmToday was quite fun, really. After rather failing to be ready on time, when we finally arrived at work Paula, who was meant to be around ten minutes before, hadn't turned up. When by 8:30 she still hadn't shown I went and annoyed people, then found Paul again and annoyed him. He explained Micross to me, which is much fun - the data-handling software for just about all the manufacturing-y things that get done at Jenway. Then he sent me off to patch up an Excel spreadsheet listing some of the things the latest recalculation of costings had messed up and went off to a meeting (which had already been delayed half an hour due to the sales director person not showing up). I finished that before the meeting ended, and eventually gave up and did random stuff on my Psion until he returned. Then after spending quite some time attempting to get a printer to work (well, to get the computer I was going to use to recognise the printer's existance), and giving up and just loading stuff up on what it was attached to, he showed me how to fix the most common thing that'd messed up the figures and let me loose on Micross with the superuser account :-). After fixing all the ones I could and flagging up ones that were odd, it was about time for lunch. Apparently my dad and a few other ppl from the company always go down the pub on Friday lunchtime, so I went with them. It was okay 'cos we sat outside and there was a breeze so the other two smoking didn't bother me. While eating lunch I listened to a conversation about psychopathic teachers who got their pupils to write essays on 'how to kill a person without being caught' and inventive ways of crashing cars, which was quite amusing. After lunch Paul and I sat down and went through the anomolies, which was lots of fun, tracking down what had gone wrong.
After I got home from work and got online I got bounced at by a happy Neil, which was nice. Apart from that, home's been rather boring tho.
