"Oops."

It was Amy who had uttered the immortal word, and Kassidy who first rushed to the scene of the accident to see what was wrong. She found Amy sitting on the concrete steps of the cathedral, hugging a grazed knee. A fair amount of scarlet blood was trickling down her leg, and occasionally Amy would collect a sample on her finger and contemplatively lick it off. Kassidy watched her for a moment, and then spoke.

"Are you okay?" she asked, because that was the kind of question you had to ask at these moments.

"I think so," replied Amy. "It tastes weird. But I guess it should."

"Maybe we should get you cleaned up," said Kassidy. After all, somebody had to be the responsible adult here. "Can you stand?"

"Haven't tried," said Amy, meditatively cleaning her finger of blood once again. "Where are we going?"

Kassidy hadn't thought that far ahead. Maybe they could go to one of the public toilets nearby; not that they were any place to take a bleeding wound. Maybe Jessica would know what to do. She always seemed to be carrying useful things when they needed them.

"We're going to find Jessica," said Kassidy after she had thought all of that. "Do you want a hand up?"

"M'okay," replied Amy, slightly muffled by the finger in her mouth. She removed the finger and placed her hand on the concrete step beside her, carefully levering herself up. "Hurts," she complained.

"It's about time you noticed," said Kassidy. "Come on, we'll go to the warehouse."

"Why will Jessica be in the warehouse?" asked Amy.

"She probably won't, but there's a phone in the warehouse," replied Kassidy. "You know the Nice Girls don't talk like us."

"It's a long way to the warehouse," Amy said sulkily.

"You can hold onto my arm if you're having trouble walking," offered Kassidy. Amy took the outstretched arm cautiously, and stumbled and hopped after Kassidy down the wide stretch of paved street before them.
