Do you know how many languages use '!=' as 'not equal', or, alternatively, how many don't?

(Acorn) BASIC doesn't (it uses <>)
Haskell doesn't (it uses /=)
Oberon doesn't (it uses #)

A lot of the basics use <>, qbasic did, I have a feeling that AMOS did as well.

But C uses != and as C forms the basis of collective concious thought of programmers it is of course The Right Way(tm) of doing things.
