In general:
I don't have any particular squicks or triggers - in fact I'm often quite keen on terrible things :-). I'm not so keen on very-AU stuff (although canon divergence / what-if is something I've asked for in some of these) or fuzzy no-problems romantic curtainfic.
These are mostly copied and pasted from the other details section, but here in case you want everything in one place:
The Culture - Iain M. Banks:
This is one of those 'really, anything' requests - if you have a good idea already, disregard the rest of this section and go write it :-).
If you're still here looking for some ideas:
Yime's story in Surface Detail feels very incomplete. I'd love to see her having some other adventure, or what drove her to choose her allegiance in the first place, or just another slice of her life...
Grey Area, or any of the Offensive Units, being offensive. One of the incidents that got Grey Area its charming sobriquet, bored Offensive Units pushing the boundaries of what citizens and non-citizens can reasonably consent to, the chase after one of them is deemed to have crossed the line?
Or just a party in the Culture - I really loved the party scene in Look to Windward. Maybe something on a cosmopolitan Orbital where very different people - including seriously nonhuman people - mix and mingle, or a 'proper' alien on a backwater Orbital as the centre of attention, or a ship and crew on some kind of long voyage who have had a party every night for the past several weeks and are each trying different ways to work around their ennui and the way they're trapped in close quarters with each other.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine:
My various current obsessions here are:
Kira during the Occupation. I know people have already written me great stuff for this in the past, but I just can't get enough of it :-). Bajoran OCs during the Occupation are also great. Doing anything. Just existing, scraping a living; collaborating and how that makes them feel - including 'maybe they're actually fine with it'; joining the Resistance or fighting back; trying to protect them and theirs, whether they agree with their politics or not...
I'm also a fan of the Mirrorverse and Intendant Kira if you want to do something with that.
Julian Bashir - particularly an exploration of the attitudes and difficulties around genetic modification in the Federation. He grows and changes a lot over the series, but I'm happy to see him at any point in his development: what would happen if his background had been discovered earlier? How does his heritage affect his relationship with Ezri?
Jake Sisko - I feel like his story is never really explored very thoroughly in the series. What's it like to be Jake Sisko, growing up as the Commander's son? How does he get on with the other children / teenagers, especially the Bajorans? Does he ever really explore religion, given the place he's growing up in is steeped in it? What does he really think about Kasidy Yates?
Ib - Video Game:
Fundamentally - what's happening here? I would _love_ to see some kind of twisty backstory that makes all the events suddenly make sense, even the bits that are blatantly just jump shocks or game mechanics :-).
If that's not your bag, I'd also love to see a story from the perspective of one of the Red Lady paintings. What's it like to be a hungry animate painting thirsting for the blood of children?
Or if one of the other enemies inspires you, something from their perspective would also be cool :-) How lonely is it for the shadow hands, just waiting for their chance to reach out and touch someone?
