It's
yuletide time again, so here is a copy of my requests for public consumption - I haven't said anything new here so if you've actually got my original signup then you can skip this and I hope you have fun writing :).

Ideally something set in a Culture location (an Orbital, a ship, or a planet which is actually owned and run by the Culture) rather than somewhere outside, but anything with Culture people doing Culture-y things will be good :-).
Some ideas if you are feeling stuck, although don't feel bound by these at all if you've got your own:
Someone from the Culture decides to die - why, does anyone try to talk them out of it, and what do they do to mark their passing?
Someone gets restored from an old backup - how do they go about re-integrating with their unknown last few months / years?
Someone decides on a radical change of form, possibly to one with a vastly different sense of time to standard - how do their friends and loved ones react?

To be honest I will be happy with anything where Garak is being Garak, i.e. much smarter than everyone around him ;).
Some ideas if you are feeling stuck, although don't feel bound by these at all if you've got your own:
An episode from Garak's past, long before he had ever even heard of Bajor or Deep Space Nine; or perhaps just him telling tall tales of it to Bashir or a similar confidant.
What happens next - how does Garak find the new, somewhat broken Cardassian Empire when he finally manages to return home?

I love the little glimpses into the world that the text after certain events gives you in this game, and possibly my favourite is the piece after the first mind worm attack on the cities. Similarly, I'm fascinated by the Gaians gradually coming to understand Planet.
So anything with Deirdre and her growing understanding of Planet is good - maybe a piece which tackles the question, how can you come to understand, maybe even love, something which has attacked your people with something as horrific as the Mind Worms?
