I don't know how much a I dare say, very little probably. Let me say at least this: this being LiveJournal there's a fair chance that a great mass of posters will take your side and militantly declare "How dare they!" and "What an appaling way to treat their daughter" and generally imply that you're faultless in the matter, and your parents are beyond the pail.
LiveJournal is a great place for getting self esteem, it is a rubbish place for getting truth. To what extent you love your parents I don't intend to here comment, the posters don't, it's as simple as that. What they say and what they recommend most likely come heavily influenced by that.
Hopefully people who would comment along those lines will read this post and will get too distracted flaming me to get around to saying such things.
