I was trying to run a program on it. Specifically, a complex program that after I poked at the stuff running with it for a while apparently ought to have been run on a Unix system, and was running under NT and some X emulator thing... So it wasn't really surprising that it ran out of juice (it looked like running out of memory from what I could gather from the error output file it gave me when it crashed the first time, before it really went for it) and dumped core at me.
