I have a driving test on Tuesday.
Tomorrow I am going to a church youthgroup BBQ.
On Wednesday I went to a cell group BBQ. It was actually more entertaining than I was planning to give it credit for. Normal people are sometimes okay when they're not being scary. Every now and again they can even be quite interesting. Plus the food was nice.
Today I went for a drive with my dad. As we were driving down the road, the magnetic L-plate on the front of the car flew off. We turned around and went back to look for it, but we couldn't see it from the car, so we drove around the block to have a second pass. While doing so I managed to misjudge a very sharp corner and end up on the curb, but there was a little bit of dropped curb positioned exactly right for cars to misjudge the corner without smashing themselves up too badly. We continued down the road, and met a van reversing in the same direction we were travelling and the same lane, with its hazards on. We overtook it and pulled up a little further on, and my dad ran out and retrieved the L-plate. I wonder if the deadpan delivery of this story makes it more amusing or less.
Yesterday we went for a walk down by the duck pond near our old house. The sheep fields are overgrown with thistles and nettles, and the sheep were mostly hiding in the nettles. There were caravans beside the pond; there never were caravans there before, it seems like a rather disappointing place to holiday, although it was a nice place to live. The road was poorly maintained, and some of the prettier ducks (they were all very large, the birdies, because they've been fed lots) had their wings clipped. We went up the road a little further because we could see one cute sheep alone in a field, and came to a sign saying that you needed a £1 ticket to go see the animals. The only other animals on the farm used to be some pigs and we could see the yard they had been in and it was empty. We didn't continue along the road. Behind the shop used to be a Pick Your Own field with lots of different berries; there still is some of it because there's still advertising pointing to it. We wondered where they kept these animals you were meant to pay a pound to see. We decided it was a shame that it wasn't all still free. Other than that it was dismal and rained all day.
I should write more LJ entries.
