I aten't dead.

On the other hand, I have been doing Far Too Much Stuff, and haven't even written it down offline yet.

I probably should say something about XF (which was from the 8th to the 14th of August). For some reason, this year XF was a lot more tiring. It was mostly the way that there was never a moment when I really stopped, except when I was asleep. I got a lot more sleep (I didn't wake up an hour early every day) but that was bad because it meant I didn't have that time to refresh and centre myself in the morning; on the other hand I really couldn't spare the time from sleeping (by the end I had to wake myself up with an alarm, which I didn't need to do last year even though I was getting up much earlier). Also, I forgot to wear my glasses for the first couple of days and then wondered why I had nasty headaches not dealt with by drinking lots.

I was very glad that I got my own room again because it was far too hot and sharing a room with someone I barely know is a pain anyhow. The showers in the girls' block (which had been the boys' block last year) were so increadibly miserable (fixed position, binary temperature) that I didn't even attempt to use them; thankfully there was a lockable area with a sink. Eventually I managed to find a bath, but someone had stolen the plug.

My dorm were, basically, entirely incompatable with me. They reminded me very strongly of all the girls at school that I am so glad to be away from, and were generally rather unimpressed with our rather inadequately prepared Bible study work. When Fiona and I got together and made up material to be more relevant, they were much more attentive. Unfortuantely they just entirely got on my nerves because of my bad past experiences with similar people - and I did rather flip unnecessarily when they claimed not to know how to sweep a floor.

This was more than made up for by the young people in Programming, though; only one of them did I have any trouble at all in getting through to, and even they went away with a quite impressive project completed. So that made me happy, although it was hard work keeping two complete beginners, going at slightly different speeds, occupied at once without worksheets or anything.

There was some really cool stuff going on in general, although my small group (for Bible teaching and stuff in more same-level groups) was the one which already knew all the answers and didn't really make much progress even though we got a few random questions discussed and answered. And I think that everything I did was pretty much the right thing to do except for getting annoyed with my dorm for no good reason now and then, and we did have some great moments. But it was more 'hard work' than 'a good time', quite definitely this year; I'm not really sure why.
