I forgot to mention in that last entry - when I first saw the subject line NiMH I thought of that series of books 'The Rats of Nimh', about a super-intelligent breed of rats that had escaped from a laboratory and were running a university for mice and rats... has anyone else read them? I was given the first one (about the intelligent mouse that learns to write as a kid then hears of them) in English class, then tracked down all the ones I could find.

Yay! I read some of those - definitely the first one, and possibly another one or two but I can't remember more than the one. Think we did them in English too - in middle school possibly.

Yeah, I remember those :)

I read the original one, and also one sequel to it (which was by the original author's offspring, I think?). I don't remember any others, though.

I think they made an animated film of the original, too - am I just going mad?

There was more than one by the original author? I saw some "authorisd sequels" or something... but yeah, the original was well worth reading. And yes, there was a film of it.
