'And a word with cr is... crab!'

And the fireman is a 'fire-fighter' - a black woman. And there's a man pretending to be a cat in a most disturbingly camp manner. And the two boys who help each other up the hill? One's white and one's black. How symbolic.

Kids TV, the politically correct version, under the banner 'Open Mind'. And they can't work out whether to go for 'cultural diversity - different but valid' or 'total equality - they're the same under the skin'.

Is it prejudice, sexism, to employ more men for heavy lifting jobs? Or is it merely a recognition of the different but equally valid skills of men and women?

Is there truly 'cultural diversity' and should people gather in groups of the same ethnicity, or be encouraged to integrate into the culture of their geographical area? Is culture a function of race or one of personality? And how far do you go in ensuring the propogation and survival of cultures - is allowing cliquish behaviour on racial lines the first step to seperate schools (not necessarily superior/inferior, just *different*), and more seperate countries-within-countries - ghettos, effectively? But how far the other way should you go - splitting racial groups up so everyone gets to befriend people of every ethnicity early on, so they don't end up with inbuilt suspicions from non-familiarity?

Hmm, I'm definately rambling now. *takes a look at her sitting room* Oi, who's this? *removes the baby elephant that appears to be sitting there* Hey, you, no taking advantage of a person with a cold. Shoo, back to Ahsu with you!

I think people need to recognise that some people are better suited at some jobs than others. That doesn't make them inferior, but their suitability to do a job should be usable in the decision about who to do it.

Yeah, somewhere along the line the PC brigade seem to have lost sight of the fact that the point is not to pretend that everyone can do everything, but to give everyone an equal chance to do everything.

Is this a good time to mention my 'Equal Wrongs' campaign?
