Just to prove I haven't disappeared utterly...
This is the writeup of a dream I wrote out this morning - verbatim, from my notepad.
First scene - Althea (the elf queen) gives birth to a halfelven son.
Second scene - This son's father is the human High Commissioner, and they go out of the palace to tour the city and see what needs putting right. However, they come across a group of peasents listening to a female peasent with black hair + brown eyes + a very chubby farmers-wife face + a simple, LJ-green green dress (pinafore dress) declaiming about how evil the High Commissioner is, how he doesn't care about the people, how he's totally out of touch in his fastness, how he hoards all the taxes for his personal use... the young boy gets fidgity, and spots these two tall towers, one marked 'up' + one marked 'down', of metal painted a glossy white, with plain metal 'lift doors'. So he goes towards the 'up' one, but some yobs at the fringe of the crowd (brown medieval gear; looks like a v. long thin jumper (shirtish material tho, well, peasent-cloth stuff) over trousers of the same material + wooden-soled shoes, uppers of the same stuff as clothes, three or four of them, all male, v. short hair) spot him and yell "Hey, that's his son!" and give chase. Boy slams hand on 'open' button, dives inside tube, and finds himself inside a big metal cuboid reaching up above him with metal ladders on each wall steadily moving upwards. Their movement isn't fast enough for either party, so both scramble up the ladders. (well, slats of metal protruding from + moving up the walls, edges slightly rounded to look good.) The boy is panicking 'cos on lifts like these you're meant to pay a coin to the guard at the top, and not only does he have no coins he's scared that said guard will be on the yobs' side. When he gets to the top there's a small metal room with graffiti and all the other unkemptnessnesses of an unguarded lift stage, and no guard. He dives down the 'down' shaft before the yobs can react, brushing the sides only to gradually slow his fall so he doesn't die at the bottom. He hits the floor, and has misjudged his speed, + blacks out.
Next scene - Althea had been waiting at the bottom of the shaft to rescue him, her elven charisma holding the crowd at bay. She snatched him up and used the healing touch she'd hastily prepared to bring him back to wakefulness, although it fizzled before much more happened, so he still had a nice set of bruises and a headache.
Somehow they ended up in an outdoor cafe where most ppl were in middleclass medieval gear, Althea was in a shimmering whtie dress from a slightly later era, and one of two groups were in modern shirts + trousers, although no modern casualwear was in evidence. Waiters wore suits + bow ties, waitresses wore medieval serving-maid gear. Boy tapped father on the knee, and complained that someone had stolen his credit balance. (They were sitting next to the fence (20-cm high white picket fence around the cafe, inside of the cafe area looked a lot like a place we went to on holiday with the 'don't feed the big nasty birds so our little garden birds will come back' signs, in some seaside town or other), Boy and Alth closest, and indeed someone was in the process of extracting what looked like a pepperami from a yellow pepperami packet, and inserting it into a wall opening (a metal plate, with an attaching metal thingamy in each corner, and a small circular hole in the middle which was an exact fit for the pepperami) - apparently the pepperami was some kind of credit card.
Father thinks for a moment then says 'let them', remembering the accusation of limitless funds. Sure enough, the theives looked surprised at the balance, + disappointed. Howver, they took it anyway. "Uh, how are we going to pay for our meal?" asked Boy.
"I'll pay," replied Althea. Boy asked why they had seperate accounts, and Alth replied that elves and humans used different banks. Humans based capital on gold, and elves based it on silver. (Alth has wavy silver hair.) (Father has dark brown, normal-short hair, and is shortish (stocky), and has stubble, and brown eyes.) (Boy has light brown n-s hair and pale blue elven eyes.)
The next scene is a dinner-party, years later. Alth has two more children - a blonde-haired brown-eyed girl, who is at this point about 15, 16ish and wears modern-era clothes (very roughly based off Janie from the TV show 'My Family'), and another brown-haired, bluegrey-eyed boy, looking very similar to Boy earlier, except modern clothes. Boy has grown into a man (of 18), although hasn't grown a beard - he sitll affects the medieval style of dress tho.
(Here follows a little diagram, copied from memory, although from memory it was made up of tiles stolen mostly from Conquest of the New World, a rendered marble table from somewhere, and seats like proper versions of the throne from Blades of Exile. It shows a section of coastline and some grass, on which is a table, with Father and Althea at the two ends, the elf Commission Chair, the human Commission Chair and the elf High Commissioner on the side nearest the coast (and a deeper water tile marked 'spreading water', shown and labelled on the diagram), and the children, labelled Todd (the small boy), Janie (the girl) and Boy (the oldest). There was also in the dream a scroll around the surrounding landscape, which appeared to involve a lot of lava and water, which was lifted straight from Zangband old tileset.)
Girl complains about food, dashing around to get microwave stuff done. Father tries to find nonsliced bread. The white loaf we were meant to be having (white sandwich loaf) is presliced, and in the wrong direction (lengthways!). So we get this odd brown loaf (that now I think about it looks rather like the ciabatta we bought today - wierd). Man's (man is the new name for who I labelled Boy, 'cos I had no names for ppl) worried about the 'spreading water'. Digintaries arrive,
scene break
Boy (younger boy) is travelling along a country road in a strange wooden vehicle that looks like an oversized balsa-wood model plane with a bicycle under each wing. He and a friend are pedalling this contraption, passengerless (passengers can sit in the 'plane' body). They have to stop suddenly because a darkelf woman steps out into the road in front of them. (They're about 13.) Boy's friend loses control + flies into the ditch. Instead of going to help him, Boy is entranced by darkelf (long black hair, the works). Darkelf leads Boy away, leaving the friend to get out of the ditch, retrieve the ruined biplane and drag it home (as it needs 2 ppl to ride it). 'Friend' swears that he will henceforth be the enemy of Boy (with some medieval oath).
Meanwhile, darkelf and boy fall deeply in love (well, Boy does, you can never tell with darkelves). They get married, live in darkelf's castle, and eventually darkelf announces she's pregnant. As darkelf and 'boy' (now grown up) return to the castle after this announcement (made in the city), they are ambushed - by three identical copies of ex-friend. They try to capture darkelf and kill 'boy', but despite the powerful regeneration upon them (they are invisible during the combat but when boy gets close enough to sense them they have little health bars floating by their heads...) and their righteous wrath they are vanquished.
Althea and Father are at darkelf's castle. They beg darkelf and boy to follow them. Cautiously, darkelf + boy agree. The couple board the moonship + boy begs Alth and father to join them, but they say there is not enough air now darkelf and Man's wife are there too. The moonship launches, escaping the powerful curse boy's enemy put on the world against all who loved or were close to or were loved by boy on the event of enemy's death. Horrified, they watch Alth and Father engulfed in a pool of lava, Father plunging his head in to end it beefore the chidren saw him scream, Alth standing proud and strong despite the pain evident in her face to the end.
For the first scene on the moon, a few months had passed after landing, when a rudimentry atmosphere had been established (by releasing frozen gas trapped under rocks) so free walking (in light suits of elastic material, with rebreathers) was possible + water had been tapped. Janie kept panicking about her rebreather, insisting she could smell sulpherous fumes, but it was just a psychological effect from the lava.
Darkelf gave birth to a black-haired, blue-eyed boy (who already had wuite a lot of hair for a baby) in an underground rocky chamber flooded with oxygen, becasue the atmosphere-rebreather combination was too thin + Boy insisted she'd break anything attached to her (which from her violence may have been true - boy had to deliver the baby as no-one else was willing to get close enough. Oh, and darkelf bit the umbilical throuhg, leaving boy to tie it, which earned him being thrown across the room after she snatched the baby from him).
There was more moon stuff, + a pic of the earth turning and a giant glowing radioactive-green ball being stuck in its side (odd continents too), and prolly half a dozen other scenes, but it's now a whole hour since I started writing this ((in longhand, actually written in the notes)) - eep!

Dreams
Have you ever read "Surely You're Joking Mr Feynmann?"
I make the reference as in it Feynmann recalls a point where he learnt to observe himself as he fell asleep to the point that he ended up finding himself observing his dreams (making observations like "Yes, I'm definatly dreaming in colour" "To what detail can I lkook at this, that girls hair, can I see an individual hair (and being able to se not just the hair but diffraction patterns from the light on it: vision as good as you like)")
