Today was *boring*. Almost killed my wrists messing around with stupid documents full of meaningless numbers, and I didn't even really have time to read them through properly to see anything interesting that happened to be in them. After scanning one, I then had to pick through it and sort out the mess that the OCR program had made of it. Then I had to go through another and correct all the equations in it because apparently it'd been imported from Word 2 (I guess there must have been versions of Word that low, but *how* old?!) and the equation editor had screwed up half the equations in it. Plus every time I edited one it threw it out of position and I had to catch the textbox around it and resize and move it around... and these two simple taks took me *all day*, and I haven't even finished the equations (sorting out what a rubbish OCR program makes of tables and a slightly odd font (the document was typewritten, as in on an actual typewriter, as far as I could work out) in a 54-page document made up mostly of tables is Not Friendly, and Word naturally feels it's obliged to crash if you open the equation editor more than about three times without restarting Word - at least it didn't want me to reboot the computer each time...)
And it's been boiling hot. At least with a safety pin stuck in it my skirt didn't undo itself and threaten to fall off, which it did the grand total of *four times* yesterday, once when I was walking home and it really did almost fall off, I was holding it on until I thought everyone was around corners and so could dare to do it up properly.
And MSN has randomly decided not to work at me. Not sure why I loaded it up anyway, no-one talking much on talkers I guess, but it's annoying that the first time I load it up for ages it's dead. (Then again maybe I'm just having a very annoyable day.)
I *did* get a chocolate icecream from Thorntons tho (at work today, one of the ppl in the office brought them back after lunch and handed them round), and the room we were in had a fan in it so it wasn't as hot as the one I had been working in, and everyone was very chatty and nice. So not an absolutely horrible day, just an aggrevating one.

Word Processors
Anyway, I know how annoying it can be converting difficult documents, and doing it manuelly always feels like timewasting beause there really ought to be a better method.
The PC to Psion word conversion is subtly broken, you only notice it if you're using styles or looking at outlines, but it is a real pain to correct!

I was more thinking about the fact that Works only lets you have one sheet in a spreadsheet - and the one I do my finances in has 4. And the ones for work are normally 2-20 or so.
There're other things too (so much so that I bought Office 2000 even though I got Works bundled with the puter - not as extravagant as it sounds ... if you're a student you can buy M$ stuff cheaper, so I got the full shebang for ?125 instead of ?600)

Occasionally I make myself feel old, this appears to be one of those times ;)
