Yup, it's more New Haylar!

I've booked up for my Theory Test (9th of May), confirmed my UCAS offers (Cam first, then York, because me=sheep), written a stupid letter to the doctors' surgery because I didn't lie on a form and now all heck has broken loose over my gym membership even though I don't even *go* any more because the weather's nice enough for walks *deep breath*, done some more STEP maths and finished another question (although both of my finished questions are 'easy' ones, one of them's Q1 on a paper and today's was a mechanics one), gone driving and almost crashed a few times (y'know, that give way to the *right* at roundabouts thing, also being ploughed into the curb by the bus due to parked cars), and I *still* don't feel productive. That'll be PMT, then.

The Theory Test isnt that hard if a drongo like me can pass twice. (once for bike and again for car)
Also the new hazzard observation is a crock. It dosnt simulate driving and the quality is a joke. i meen i get better looking pirets od hollywood films. If you are feeling nervouse about it dont be. Click every 5 seconds and get a hight score like me.

And yes thats really and truly what i did on it.

And about the rounderbouts thing. Im used to flying past them on my bike without giving way to anyone but in the car i had to take it easy comming into them. Slow down early and change into second. and i was supprised to see how slow a car will go in second without stalling. And trust yourself if your dad says you are a good driver then you are. Also when you pass you test its ok to kut infront of people to the right at a rounderbout if they are going slow. I have done that on a lesson and it was a police car that was being too slow.

And guess what i get to do for my pass plus???? My instructor is going to let me book it all in one day and were thinking of driving down to brighton and eating lunch on the sea front.

LOL its worked ok for the last 3 / 4 years. i havent had an accidend on a rounderbout. and i do pause and make sure there is a gap i can get into. Cos your right just going for them full pelt is silly.

Have you got a car or bike or ever ridden / driven one?

Re: Theory Test

[identity profile] marnanel.livejournal.com 2003-04-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to cycle to work (pedal bike, not motor), but after having two bikes stolen, I gave up. Besides I don't have a job any more.

I used to have a car, briefly-- a dark red one, rather old and battered. I kept it for a few years and then scrapped it. It's hardly worth having a car, because I've never passed the driving test.

Im sorry mate you seem to nice to have had you bike nicked. Id cry if my bike was robbed i really would. And i know its only tecnicly what people will call a posetion a thing but im connected to it and i feel for it. Anyways the freedome driving or rideing gives your from public transport is amaysing. Thats what i feel anyway.

What job did you have and why dont you have it any more?

Re: Theory Test

[identity profile] marnanel.livejournal.com 2003-04-05 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, public transport here sucks. It wasn't so bad until I had a job out of town-- before then I could walk to work if I needed to.

I used to work as a software developer. A whole load of things caused me and the employer to part company, including them deciding I'd be happier in a sysadmin job, and me sufferring from mental illness.

Re: Theory Test

Well, the company I'd worked for wants me back on contract for a bit now. But other than that, it's a bit of a depressed market out there.

I'm hoping to move to Pennsylvania to be with [livejournal.com profile] firinel and [livejournal.com profile] riordon, anyway, so getting a job will become part of that.

I am wondering what you're learning to drive in. I hope it's a 4x4 or something, otherwise the steering is going to be a nightmare on the straight bits ;)

How's it going anyway, you enjoying it?

inconvenient speed limits

[identity profile] dr-vannacutt.livejournal.com 2003-04-08 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that line. that sums up everything about driving ;-)

"It's just a shame that there's all these inconvenient speed limits and other road users about."

Im going to have to put that as the title on my web site as soon as i get adsl.

You're in trouble beause you *didn't* lie?

She told a misleading truth, not intending to decieve but failing to seperate pedantry and truth. Life, as always, retaliated by getting complicated.

When what you meant was "None relavent to the gym".

[identity profile] passage.livejournal.com 2003-04-18 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair I think you might have been (not unreasonably) expecting more intelligence from the gym staff than you recieved.
