No spaces = no word-wrap.

Well, that depends on the browser (Mozilla, for instance, does word-wrap it). But I'll try to insert spaces in my future code snippets, for the poor IE people out there. :)

It's not a browser thing, it's a LJ-style thing. The style my friendspage is under gets stretched if it can't break the line at a space.
