Like you, I'm a Christian who doesn't find this historical evidence for the resurrection hugely compelling. My objections are basically your (1) and (2). We just don't know enough about what happened to make such a significant life-change based on it. Personally I'm more convinced by philosophical arguments.
But some people (presuambly of different temperament from me) are converted by the historicity of the resurrection, and provided they're not actually being misinformed, I think that's a good thing, and makes such sermons worth preaching.
