Mmm. I wouldn't normally say this, since I generally believe it's best to be open about things, but if you continue to have bad bouts with depression you might consider getting screened and simply not telling your mother. Of course, that depends on how good you are at keeping secrets, and there is no point in doing something that will make you horribly guilty, but keep it in mind.
Goodness, yes, there are always those people who think that mental illness is a moral failure. Kind of makes me want to bring out the bulldozer. I guess it's just as well I'm all the way Over Here, hmm?
